Overview

Soaked in nature’s beauty, Sarahan is flanked on the banks of the meandering Sutlej River. The way to Sarahan through Fagu, Theog, Narkanda, Rampur, and Jeori is extremely scenic-traversing through mountains flanked by steep cliffs on one side and deep ravines on the other, dense emerald pine forests, terraced farms, apple orchards. Once in Sarahan, one beholds a range of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks and one of them is the Shrikhand Peak. The rather peculiar thing about this peak is that it is only one whose tip remains uncovered with snow. In the evening, sunrays adorn the peaks and the sight is simply stupendous.
Tour to Sarahan About 54 km from Sarahan lies in the Sangla valley. The road to Sangla is narrow, rough, and hazardous, taking one through Wangtu and Karchham. The Sutlej River that meanders below now emerges in all its frenzied ferocity. The sheer force with which it gushes down makes it awesome. The road to Sangla is crudely carved out of rocks and runs parallel to the river that is deep down in the forge. At some places, there is barely enough space for the bus to wriggle through the rough road and the rock above.

Place of Intrest:

BHIMAKALI TEMPLE COMPLEX : This historical temple is a multistoried structured building, a fusion of Hindu and Buddhist architecture. The tall tower like structure and unusual roof of the temple dominate the complex. The centuries old temple is now locked and in the newly built temple, the goddess Bhimakali is portrayed as a maiden and as a woman. This temple complex includes other temples such as Narsingh shrine of Bhairon and Lord Raghunath.

BIRD PARK : Near the temple complex is a pheasant breeding centre. It also houses the State bird Monal which is of a great attraction.

BHABA VALLEY : 50 km from Sarahan, a beautiful valley along Bhaba river. Link road to valley originates at Wangtu. It has a beautiful landscape, reservoir lake, alpine meadows and is best famous for trek route to Pin Valley in Spiti..

Best time to Visit: The ideal season to visit Sarahan and its adjoining areas is between April and June. After this the monsoons begin. September to November are good months to go and one can get a glimpse of snow in Kufri and Narkanda.

Day 01 :

Delhi to Shimla

Arrive at Delhi Railway Station & drive to Shimla which is 2180 meters above the sea level. Spend the day at leisure by exploring the Mall.

Day 02 :

Shimla - Sarahan

After breakfast, drive from Shimla to Sarahan via Kufri, Theog, Fagu, Narkanda, Rampur, On this route, halt at Rampur for lunch. On reaching Sarahan, check-in to your Hotel. 2165 meters above the sea level, Sarahan commands a view of Srikhand Mahadev Peak and is famous for 800 years old Bhimakali Temple, one of the best examples of Hill Architecture. In the evening, enjoy panoramic view of Shrikhand Peaks. Day 03 :

Sarahan - Sangla

Sarahan is 2744 meters above the sea level. Participate in morning Aarti at Bhimakali Temple. After breakfast, check-out from your Hotel and depart for Sangla via Karcham. Your journey from here will take you to another spectacular destination in the middle Himalayas which is also known as Baspa valley – the prettiest valley in Himachal. Arrive at Sangla & check-in to your Hotel. After a delicious dinner, sleep comfortably overnight.

Day 04 :

Sangla - Chitkul - Sangla

After breakfast, explore the vicinity around including an ancient Kamru Fort & Temple dedicated to the Goddess Kamakhya Devi which was brought from Assam. After lunch, leave for an excursion to Chitkul the last Village on old Indo-Tibetan trade route. Walk through the green orchards, by a brilliant stream. As the day falls, return to your hotel in Sangla for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 05 :

Sangla - Kalpa

After breakfast this morning, check-out from your hotel and drive to Kalpa. 2670 meters above the sea level, Kalpa is the district headquarter of Kinnaur and was once the favorite getaway of Lord Dalhousie. On reaching Kalpa, check-in to your Hotel. Once known as Chini, little has changed in Kalpa in the last 500 years. Legend has it that when Lord Dalhousie wanted to take a break from his hectic schedule in Shimla, he would come here on his Horseback. By the side of Kalpa is a 79-foot rock formation that resembles a Shivling that changes the colour as the day passes and is visible to the naked eye on a clear day. After lunch, rest in your hotel for a while. In the evening, visit the Buddhist Gompa - Hu Bu Lan Kar. Return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 06 :

Kalpa Site Seeing and Shimla

Early morning, enjoy the Sunrise over Kinner Kailash Peaks. Kalpa is famous for its apples & chilgoza plantations. The tree belongs to the Pine Family & the fruit is in about an inch long, in soft cover. After breakfast, visit the local School & Narayan Nagini Temple Complex, which has Shrines of Hindu, Buddhist and local Deities and excursion trip to Roghi Village to get closer to the ‘Pahari’ way of Life as you mingle with the locals and then shall leave for Shimla, Dinner and overnight stay at Shimla.

Day 07 :

Shimla to Delhi
